Saint Eulàlia is the co-patron saint of
Barcelona along with Saint Jordi. Affectionately known by the nickname
for Eulàlia, La Laia, she is commemorated with
statues and street names throughout Barcelona. The festival of Santa
Eulàlia on the 12th February, is one which is dedicated to the children
of the city. Eulàlia was a child

As part of the Dan Dansa family season at Barcelona's dance theatre el Mercat de les Flors, Å, Marja, fly, fly is production featuring a ladybird and a fairy that is dedicated to children from 6 months to 4 years old. The show's characters find themselves
lost in a strange, colourless place where unusual things happen.
The choreography of this production, from ballerina Inger Cecilie Bertrán, is inspired by children's games and the movements of a ladybird. Children are able to interact with the dancers and

Registration dates for the 2010-2011 school year in Catalunya are now available. The exact timelines for applications depend upon the school age of your child. Although public nurseries begin initial applications or "preinscipció" in May, infants, primary and secondary education, applications begin next week. Carnival is just around the corner with this year's main city parade taking place on Saturday, February 13th. Children play a central role in the celebrations and there will be no end of Carnival parades taking place at schools, nurseries and local cultural centres.
