In 2007, visitors to Spain from the United Sates increased by  22 percent with a total of 59.2 million American visits to the country.

Spain, as a choice for US travellers. has been made more attractive by the introduction of new long-haul flights, with more planned inaugaurations this year.   A new service from Boston and Washington D.C. was launched by Iberia in 2007 and in 2008 American Airlines is launching a nonstop service from New York’s JFK to Barcelona on April 24. Delta Air Lines will also introduce a nonstop service from JFK to Málaga on the Costa del Sol on June 4.

American airliines, Delta Airlines, Continental and US Airways all offer flights to Spain. Continental with Iberia have daily flights from New York and other cities  to both Madrid and Barcelona.  Continental has daily services from Newark to Madrid and Barcelona. Delta has flights from both New York and Atlanta to Madrid and Barcelona and US Airways has a service from Philadelphia to Madrid and Barcelona daily.
